Capalaba Sports Club had its Day for Daniel on Friday 28th October starting with a walk in the park. Capalaba Regional Park was the location people met to take the walk around the scenic park. Approximately 70 people participated in the walk starting at 7am. Upon finishing the walk the Club had set up a sausage sizzle, red cupcakes and drinks for those who participated. The mayor of Redlands Melva Hudson and Michael Choi –the State Member for Capalaba were involved in the walk and chatted with people afterwards. Butterflies were released as a symbol of freedom for Daniel. The Club went on to serve morning tea and also that evening raffled approx $4000 in prizes donated by local business and corporate sponsors. Treehenge donated a tree to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation in memory of Daniel and donated a tree for the raffles. This is the first year CSC has decided to hold Day for Daniel and it will continue in the future. It is believed approx $5000 was raised for the foundation.
