View from the Henge update

Lots of fluorescent vests dotting the Treehenge landscape this week as the View from the Henge includes busy work on the property at Gladfield.

In contrast to the fabulous fashion that is unfolding in Brisbane, it’s also been busy in the field this week with Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) lending a hand to our project working alongside our caretakers Barry and Kathy.

Forest Meets FashionMark the 5th July in your diaries and get a group of friends or colleagues together for a great night out when Fashion Meets Forest sustainable fashion show struts  down the catwalk at Cloudland.

This year's event builds on the success of the inaugural event held in 2012 with designers and Cloudland again generously donated their time and effort to support the show. This year  Cloudland management have kindly donated the use of the decadent Heritage Room

Bringing the Treehenge community together will be a highlight of the night, enhanced this year by the addition of a ticket including return transport from Toowoomba.

If you ask Treehenge Senior Project Officer Maryanne Thompson she’ll tell you a lot of work goes into establishing trees and rehabilitating land as part of the project, “It’s not as simple as putting a tree in the ground.”

“We wanted to bring a taste of the hard work the Treehenge team and its volunteers have been doing in an area of rural Queensland to urbanites in Brisbane,” Maryanne said.

“Our Treehenge Planting Challenge showed in a fun way the effort that can go into planting and looking after our trees. If one pot was a challenge, can you imagine this with 40,000 trees? Well, that’s what we've done so far!”

An update from the Treehenge property from Barry and Kathy our hardworking caretakers. The ‘view from the Henge’ earlier in the year was a wet one as flooding rain descended upon the region, fortunately Treehenge escaped major damage. With winter now definitely here it’s a different picture with clear blue skies and bleached grass…

Mothers Day dedication gift

It rolls around but once a year but Mother’s Day always seems to creep up and catch us unprepared.

Mother’s Day is a potential minefield of bad presents. Add the rush factor of looking for something the day before or not having the slightest idea of what you’re mum would really like and you’ve got a year ahead to atone for your poor choices.

For the mum who has everything, doesn’t have a hobby, hates dressing gowns and could do with one less trinket in their lives - say thank you with a long lasting celebration of her lifetime of dedication to you.
